A series of monthly talks, by people of standing in various creative endeavours, held at Longwood Estate and hosted by our fabulous Friends of Kokomai.
January 13 – James Acheson Buy your tickets here
A public talk given by an exceptionally talented costume designer. Not only has James won three Oscars, but also a Bafta for costume design for The Last Emperor.
This promises to be a most entertaining and fascinating talk. James will be bringing some of his costumes and will use film clips to provide ‘behind the scenes’ commentary on the techniques of costume design.
Interested in creative endeavours? Look out for our next few talks:
February 24 – Arthur Tompkins
Wellington District Court Judge and authority on Art Crime Studies. In 2016 Arthur edited Art Crime and Its Prevention and this year has published his new illustrated book Plundering Beauty: A History of Art Crime During the War.
March 24 – Georgia Jamieson-Emms
Local coloratura soprano, Georgia is a language specialist, opera blogger, translator and singing teacher and director of Wanderlust Opera. She is also (probably) Julie Andrew’s biggest fan.
April 26 – Emily Writes
Emily is the mother of two small boys and editor of The Spinoff Parents.
Her best-selling book Rants in the Dark – from one tired mama to another describes the frustrations as well as the tender moments of real parenting.
